DPESS - University of Thessaly

(ENvironmentally LITErate youth through an interdisciplinary intervention) is a European research program implemented during the period 2024-2026, aimed at enhancing environmental literacy among young people through innovative and interdisciplinary educational interventions. The program is implemented by the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (DPESS) of the University of Thessaly, in collaboration with other European institutions. It is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program and the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation. It aims to raise awareness and educate elementary school students about renewable energy sources and the contribution of physical activity to more sustainable practices. Through physical education lessons, the program seeks to demonstrate how daily movement can contribute to reducing energy consumption and improving quality of life. As part of the program, a team from DPESS Trikala visited our school once again on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, and informed the children about the use of the Kinetic energy floor. This is technology that converts human movement (e.g., steps) into electrical energy. It was powered by a battery through a portable photovoltaic panel (solar panel). Everything was ready to start producing energy!

The training started …..
Thank you very much for everything.... We are looking forward to the next course!
